Aristolochia macrophylla - Dutchman's Pipe, Pipevine

Dutchman's Pipe is a native woody climbing vine grown for its large heart-shaped dark green foliage with a nice gloss that can quickly form a dense cover.  Its unusual long yellow-green flowers with a deep curve bloom in late spring.  Grows best with rich and moist well-drained soils.  

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Low maintenance.  Cut back in late winter to control growth. No serious pests or diseases.  NOTE: highly toxic if ingested, and highly flamable; do not plant within the defensible space of your home.

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Wildlife Gardens, Naturalized Areas, and Containers.
